Our founder and CEO, Brendan Heegan, was quoted in Glossy’s March 6, 2025 article “Fashion Briefing: Is There Anything Fashion Can Do to Alleviate Tariff Impact?” Along with other industry leaders, including Meghan Frank, CFO of Lululemon, and Melanie DiSalvo, founder of supply chain consultancy Virtue + Vice, Brendan spoke to how the tariffs were affecting the fashion industry.
Increasing Profits When Tariffs Increase
Brendan was asked for his take on how companies can handle the logistics of supply chain disruptions. He told Glossy that moving production to another country to avoid tariffs can be costly and unpredictable. However, storing items overseas, paying for what is shipped only, is more feasible.
Along with that, Brendan recommended business owners might want to consider:
- Focusing on core competencies and top-selling items
- Limiting the range of stock keeping units (SKUs)
- Discussing increased volume orders for discounted rates
- Or possibly — passing the increased costs on to the consumer
Brendan discussed how Boxzooka’s clients are weathering the storm, including diversifying their sourcing models and rethinking their fulfillment operations. Companies are looking to rely more on domestic manufacturing and shifting their supply chains to soften the impact of the new tariffs.
Brendan stressed that the current manufacturing environment — while challenging — presents an incredible opportunity for companies to reevaluate their supply chains and create more resilient, cost-effective models for the future.
